Oct 23  Today we did some work in our BQ book - phonics B D F (BQ8-9) - phonics L M N P (BQ12-13) - reviewed short E (BQ29) - reviewed identifying money (BQ250) Tonight we read a book called On a Beam of Light about Albert Einstein, introducing some new science concepts and exploring innovation, before our science show tomorrow.  Oct 24 Today we met with our Diamond Co-op group. River started with and hour of gym, 30 minutes of structured games and 30 min of free play. Then we had drama, she struggled with participating but helped work on some set design. In art class the kids talked about Friday Kahlo and did self portraits using oil pastels, it was her first time trying that medium and she had fun!  In the evening she attended an Eric Energy science show with her dad at North East library and had lots of fun there, too! Oct 17 Today we met with our Diamond group and we started a new round of classes. River started her morning with 30 minutes of gym, followed by about an hour and a half if drama class. Today the kids ran through lines and stage directions. After lunch they did art, today's lesson was on Kandinsky. River made a piece of art in Kandinsky's style, it was fun!  Oct 18  Today we  - watched this video on butterfly anatomy and began a cut and paste activity.  https://youtu.be/rkpklRRLr0A?feature=shared - discussed long e and short e - did a worksheet on long e and short e - did a fill-in-the-blank worksheet with a and e sounds - started a practice sheet of lowercase letters Oct 20 Today instead of meeting with our BU group, we went to a local library program with Stars on the Move, an inflatable planetarium. It was a really fun and interactive program and River learned fun facts about each of the planets and a variety of constellations. We did a "create your own...

Oct 8 River wanted to work in her BQ book this morning. - sorting and sequencing (BQ 160-163) Oct. 10 We have a stomach bug so we've been taking it easy this week. Unfortunately we had to miss co-op today.  Today River did some worksheets.  - number recognition - matching some lower case to uppercase and practicing sounds - fill in the letter worksheet - started a word search on bone names Oct 13 Today we met with our BU group and had a lesson on erosion. The kids played a leaf matching game where they all had to draw their own leaf and then picked a leaf from the pile to match. River did great with her likeness! We took a hike to find some spots where erosion occurs and received our own bins to make models.  The kids also got fish bowls and prisms from a few weeks ago, and when we got home they worked on making rainbows.

Oct 3 Today we had co-op with our Diamond group. We started the day taking class photos, and then moved into geography. In geography River went over the globe/continents and then made her own using a balloon and some coloring pages pasted into the balloon. Next she had drama class where she joined with her playmates to go through their first try at their play Enchanted Forrest including stages directions and setting scenery. River is pretty nervous about her lines, but excited to be with her group.  After lunch the kids had nature-based STEM where they practiced the best way to clean up an oil spill in the ocean. River's team did really well using paper towels, they got their water so clean!  Oct 4 We took it pretty slow today.
